This year’s event is being held to raise funds to help restore the Texas State Bison Herd to their historic range at Caprock Canyon State Park and allow visitors the chance to celebrate cultural and natural history in the Panhandle area. The Texas State Bison Herd is a remnant of the great Southern Plains Bison that once roamed the plains by the millions. The herd is important not just in their iconic significance, but also for their historical importance and rare genetic makeup not seen in any other bison herd.
The format for the 3rd Annual Bison Celebration Festival will be an all-day music event featuring some of Texas’ greatest Americana and Texas country music artists. Asleep at the Wheel will perform along with Casey Berry and the Live Texas Mosquitoes, Zac Wilkerson, Brandon Adams & the Sad Bastards, No Dry County, and Caleb Allemand and the 9 Volt Band. The music fest will begin around 2 pm and will last until after dark.
The festival will also include arts and craft vendors, food vendors and more! Registration for the buffalo stampede/color run begins at 8 am. The arts, crafts, food vendors, and a 5K/1 mile buffalo stampede/color run all begin at 10 am. Buy your tickets now.
