Comanchero Canyons Museum Is Becoming A Reality
October 15, 2013 – The Valley Tribune (Quitaque, Texas)
QUITAQUE – The Comanchero Canyons Museum, located in Quitaque, Texas, is a Texas nonprofit corporation organized to research and display artifacts and replicas depicting the history of the canyons and land surrounding them located in Briscoe, Floyd, Hall, Motley and Swisher counties prior to the 20th century. We are in the process of obtaining a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS.
After we receive the 501(c)(3) status we will be applying for grants for repurposing the building that is being donated, including the installation of display cases to house the artifacts, and for ongoing operational costs.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated to the museum and would appreciate any donations from interested people. It is only through local support that the museum will be possible.
If you have artifacts that you would like to contribute or loan to the museum, please contact one of our board members: Ronnie Carpenter, Jana Carpenter, Jerry Leatherman, Anthony Kingery, Wade Proctor, Bryan Schott, Cecil White, Marisue Potts, Daniel Jenkins, or Kim White.
